Matthew has completed his 1st year of competition in Europe. He competed throughout the year in the Euromax series, under the watchful eye of Paul Carr, Team Principal of Paul Carr racing. As a team driver Matthew pushed hard to emulate some of the past successes that Paul  has had. In addition to the Euromax, Matt drove in a number of the British Super 1 series with the odd excursion to Japan to compete in the Japanese RMC. The year was rounded off with a single race in Macau in the Asia Pacific CIK KF3 race where he placed a credible 3rd in the 1st race and 7th in the final after briefly leading the pack. An engine problem causing a power loss put pay to any hopes of a podium.

As usual fitness is key, to strong performance and Matt has spent the past couple of months readying himself for the challenge and continues to improve on his overall fitness levels working with Kellie Alexander a sports professional. Whilst in between the European races, Matt worked under the carful coaching of Fiona Hamilton, 5 times New Zealand Karting Champion. Fiona comes from a motor-sport family, with father John and brother Matthew Hamilton both competing at the highest level of the sport. The last few races were rounded off with Carlo Van Dam working with Matthew. Carlo the former European Karting Champion and Japanese Formula 3 champion brings extensive knowledge to the youngster and a clear step up in Matt’s perfromance was seen at the end of the season.
